Explore the benefits of carrots and enhance your health today!
A recent article published by The Guardian titled "Ugly fruit and veggies are making a comeback on US grocery shelves" highlights how imperfect produce — including crooked carrots — is gaining popularity again as consumers focus more on sustainability and food waste.
In the article, Jordan Figueiredo, a food waste activist, is quoted saying:
People are realizing that crooked carrots and blemished apples are just as nutritious as their perfect
counterparts, and tossing them out is a waste we can’t afford.
This growing acceptance of misshapen vegetables not only helps reduce food waste but also promotes more sustainable farming practices. It’s a win for our diets and the environment.
One of my favorite picnic spots is Hawrelak Park in Edmonton. It’s full of nature, fresh air, and beautiful lake views. Bring your blanket, a carrot snack, and enjoy a relaxing afternoon! From downtown, take Groat Road south, then follow Emily Murphy Park Road into the park.
